Truth, Absolutes or Theory!

There is only one truth about anything! I tell you that computers
exist. I tell you that I have a computer. I tell you about how a
computer works. I tell you how I think the computer came into
existence. I try to figure out who might have first came up with the
idea of a computer.

Fact: I tell someone that I have a computer...one can tell me that I am
crazy!   I write a story about my computer and how to use it... .
One still denies that computers exist... .

After I write my book about the computer...I will never change my
mind because, I know computers exist!  Someone can hate me
because I am who I am. Some might say that I'm a bad influence.
Someone might throw their copy of my book in the trash... .

There are still people that don't believe man has ever walked on the
moon. They tell others that the pictures of man walking on the moon
are fake! Yes, some people believe them.

There is truth...truth is truth and will continue to be!
There is theory...may be truth...may be some truth...may be all wrong!

What is better, the Chevy or the Ford? There are good Chevys  and
there are good Fords...I have seen a few lemons in both!
Fact: There are good Chevys and good Fords!
Theory: One is better than the other!
Breeding For Colors!

Many have the idea that the blue pit comes from a mix with another breed.
If that is so, where did that other breed get its blue color? Where did the
blue dog come from? How can you make a blue? Can you change the
shade of blue?

In other breeds where the dog is black and tan it would be almost
impossible to produce a blue and stay within a breed. The color, size,
build, attitude has been established thru breeding the same traits over and
over. This is not so with the APBT. The world of the APBT has got so big
in its present stage that it cannot be changed in a major way just because
someone don’t like a particular dog or its color. The size of the APBT has
not been established. They range from 40 to 100 pounds plus. They have
big heads, little heads, etc. Pits come in all colors. The pit is so different
than any other breed. The basic look, size, color has not been established
yet we as pit owners can recognize a purebred pit instantly. The total look
of the pit has not been established but we can recognize a mix bred dog
when we see it. A pit is like a horse…there are many sizes, colors, walks,
runs, etc., but if you breed it with a donkey you can tell it…it’s a mule. As
breeders, we have a lot of blues on chains. We also have several other
colors. The reason I write a lot on the blues and blue merles is that they
are constantly being picked on… . I just feel a need to defend the blues.
You may notice when you breed  two pits that  some pups do not look like
either parent. One day you will be looking thru Dog World Magazine or
Dog Fancy and there is your pup…no kin whatsoever, but it showed.
Other breeds have a look…APBT’s have several looks.

The blue in any breed comes from breeding a red and black dog. Just any
red or black might not throw a blue. A red nose that has been bred red
nose several generations might not throw a blue. This could depend on if
it’s a male or female… . It would depend if the blue bloodline is in the male
or female. A one generation color can be easily changed in its pups
because the color is not very dominant. Its just like mixing paint…when
you can get the colors to mix…you can make the color you desire. We
went from breeding red and black and getting a blue now and then, saving
some of the blues and blue fawns, breeding them and now our percentage
of blues in each litter is very high. Also, we breed a lot of solids…when
you do get blues, the more solid the parents the more solid the blues. We
have produced one pure blue male…100% blue. We are taking notes on
everything we do. The last few times we bred a blue to red we got
chocolate and a lot of black and white pups.  Its like the blue broke down
and made black and white…not sure, but this has happened a few times
with different red females.

The information I have discussed is based on my study and my
experience… Its only intended to help in building a better, more perfect
dog. Breed good dog to good dog to good dog and you make a champion!
